How do users connect to a Mai Wi-Fi hotspot?

When in range of a Mai Wi-Fi hotspot, a laptop or wireless device will display the Mai Wi-Fi name under “Available Networks”. Once connected, simply opening up any Internet page will display the logon page and allow the user to choose the guest function, payment option or fill in the registration details depending on what type of Mai Wi-Fi hotspot they are connected to. After activating the Internet with one of the options the system will automatically log on the user every time they access the Internet

Can I offer free internet?

Yes you can and Mai Wi-Fi still provides the management and support. To offer free internet to your guest you would purchase prepay tickets off us at the standard rate and pass to the guest for free. This method has the added advantage of being able to advertise free internet for your site but isn’t a no frills offering. You are also limiting the free internet to the value of the card you are giving them, after which you could offer more or they could purchase more

Can I change the pricing my guests pay?

We closely watch the market and set the prices to be affordable for your guests. If you wish you can apply discounts to the prepay tickets sold at your site. If you prefer to offer your own prices please refer to the Mai Wi-Fi Entrepreneur

What usage plan should I be on?

There are many broadband internet plans from ISP’s that would be suitable for the Mai Wi-Fi Hotspot, however selection of the right one is quite important to minimize the chance of ‘over the limit’ charges or a change to dialup speed. If you do have a plan that reverts to dialup please activate the email alerts. Most business plans are the best option as they continue with high speedto tell you when your plan needs updated.

What if the internet is slow?

Generally most of the time the internet should be provided at broadband speeds, however there are conditions that effect this service that our out of our control
The internet connection you have with your ISP is one of these, check to see if your usage is exceeding your plan early before your month is up, and update to a higher plan if required. As mentioned above it is best to select a plan that does not revert to dialup.

What is the range of a Mai Wi-Fi Hotspot?

Our standard Mai Wi-Fi hotspot routers typically transmit and receive data reliably over a distance of about 50 meters in a normal environment. However, the range of the router is very dependent on the materials through which the signal is transmitted. Everything blocks Wi-Fi and other radio signals a little. Wood, plaster, cinder blocks, and glass don't generally interfere much, but brick, stone, and water are more disruptive. Worse still are ceramic, concrete, metal, and mirrors, which reflect visible light and radio waves alike.

Through open air or only windows the range of the router should be at minimum 70-80 meters, this can be achieved with our setups as you can mount them outside.

Providing one of our more stronger solutions is the best option if you have more area to cover, or have possible interference obstacles around, mentioned above. Our hotspot solutions have potential to cover a large area for a low setup cost. Repeaters are also available for easy setup options with extended coverage

Why do I need a wireless hotspot in my business?

Wireless is becoming a service that people expect in accommodation along with TV, sky etc and if you don’t provide this people will find other businesses that will. Remember 10 years ago when sky was the biggest thing to install in your place, Wi-Fi hotspots are the sky of today.

In other businesses like Cafes it is becoming more and more common and provides an extra service that brings people in your door, which is great for overall revenue. It also promotes returning customers, who at times bring their friends.
